Laura Doliber Math and Social Studies Teacher Grades 7 and 8 Behring Teacher Ambassador Student Council Advisor Math Club Coach
Dear Students and Parents,
I am excited to be entering my 20th year as a teacher at St. Margaret School. My responsibilities at St. Margaret's include teaching seventh and eighth grade Math and Social Studies classes. I am also the Student Council advisor and Math Club coach.
To enhance my Social Studies curriculum I involve my seventh grade students in the National History Day project. Through my experience in teaching using the NHD model I have witnessed my students take their passion for history to new heights. This amazing program allows students to use their creativity to communicate their own historical research through a paper, a visual exhibit, a website, a documentary film, or a live performance. I was named as a Behring Teacher Ambassador to the National History Day program for 2015-2016. I, along with twenty-three other teachers from through out the country have been tasked with growing the NHD program. Through my work as an ambassador I have gained a great deal of knowledge about the program and will work to impart this knowledge onto my students.
Another national program that I am involved with is Mathcounts. Mathcounts is a challenging competition style program that encourages middle school students to think creatively, work both independently and collaboratively and make real world mathematical connections. Our St. Margaret School team has consistently ranked among the top 15 teams within the State of Rhode Island and has earned recognition as Silver and Gold Level teams over many years.
I hope that my students and their parents will frequent this website for information about what we are studying in class, links to practice activities and samples of student work.
I look forward to working with the seventh and eighth graders this year. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely, Laura Doliber
